When you rent a bike, or any place for that matter, you need to have mandatory documents like your Driving License, Identification proof and documents of the bike when you take them over.
You need to take the bike for a test run of at least half a kilometer to know its condition. Because few bikes might have gotten old and you would have to ensure if everything is functional, like the brakes and headlights.
Before you take bike rentals, make sure you have the contact number of the person or services that lend you the bike so that you can call them up in case you run into any trouble.
Few bikes may have low fuel when they are lent to you. Quite often, fuel indicators wouldn't tell you the exact level of fuel. Hence check it yourself.
You must take safety measures first. Ensure you ride only with a helmet put on.
Look for damages before you set riding. Check the bike for damages and click pictures of them so that you don't have to pay later for damages that you did not cause in the first place.
This is the most important thing for you to do. Make sure you do not indulge in speeding or unnecessary overtaking. Though riding is fun, do not risk your precious life for it!
